Teaching Philosophy

Holistic education inspires an intrinsic reverence for life and a passionate love of learning. Here, I employ principles and practices that integrate the mind, the heart, and the soul of our learners with a strong academic focus.

My teaching philosophy embraces the core values of holistic education nurturing the broad development of students—intellectual, emotional, social, physical, creative, intuitive, aesthetic and spiritual potentials. I see our learners as whole human beings.

The learning environment is one where learners are actively engaged, supported and challenged. I promote an open and collaborative relationship with an emphasis on teaching and learning that will resonate beyond the classroom toward growth, discovery, empowerment and a broadening of horizons.

Learning should be enchanting, inviting and nurturing a sense of wonder.

With literature and writing, I challenge my students to critically examine the cultural, moral and political contexts of their lives and engage with the world in meaningful ways as potential change makers.
